Genre: romance – women fiction
Number of pages: 210
It’s never too late to be offered a second chance at life.
Debs is newly single, Fiona is caring for her mum, Samantha is grieving, and Liv has the perfect life – or so she’d like her friends to think…
This year, these four life-long friends are turning fifty, and Liv is determined they will honour their promise to each other – made on a beach at sunrise twenty-nine years before – to celebrate this milestone together.
And what better place than a gorgeous villa where they will be spoiled and enjoy the stunning beaches, picturesque fishing towns and glorious climate of the Algarve?
But time away from home doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. Sometimes it makes the thought of returning to your life too hard to bear. Especially with more than one gorgeous Portuguese man making hearts unexpectedly flutter…
It begins as a reunion in the sunshine, but little do the four friends know what life-changing decisions they’ll all be making before their flight home.
A heart-warming, feel-good summer read about friendship, love and second chances.
Sunshine and Second Chances is the perfect remedy for everything that’s been happening around us lately.
Take four friends. They don’t see each other so often but their bond is stronger than time. Each woman has her life, her problems, but all are nearing or hitting the big 5-0 and what best than to celebrate with those who know you best?
I miss my friends. Like Live, Fiona, Samantha, and Debs, we don’t meet up regularly, but if I called at three in the morning with a body to hide, they’d come right away. I really enjoyed feeling the same connection between the characters in the book. No matter what happens, some people are your people, and few things are more comforting and precious than this.
To mark their reunion, Liv goes big. A villa in Portugal, nothing less! And like often, it is far from the routine and their houses that those friends will reconnect with themselves. It is so easy to lose yourself in the rush of life. With Sunshine and Second Chances, Kim Nash reminds us that it’s okay to stop and think, and that it’s never too late to change what doesn’t make you happy.
This novel is filled with sun, laughter, tears, and love. There is a protagonist for any of us to relate to. Serious subjects are mentioned, because hey, women carry the world and life is not a bed of roses. However, the book keeps its lightness thanks to the power of friendship. Kim Nash’s lovely writing makes us jumps from one character’s life to the author, cleaning up the mess life has made. The book is sprinkled with humor and wise words that hit the spot. Who said women over 45 were no fun? They clearly haven’t met this crew!
I can’t think of a better book to read with a G&T this summer. It will warm your heart and give you hope. Exactly what we need!
Verdict…
I enjoyed this book

You guys are awesome. Hahaha I feel like the kid at the window longing for the chocolate. Sadly enough, neither am I a kid, nor do I like chocolate.
🤷🏻♀️Both of you exude the warmth of friendship I can’t help but be drawn. ❤️😘

Sounds like a great summer read.
And totally agree any age is a good age to change up your life. The friendships in this book sound like it makes you root for the ladies. And it would make me want a beach holiday even more so.
Great review for a much loved author.

It’s uncomplicated and easy to connect with the characters’ issues, so a light read that works well for a break from intricate novels! 🙂

So many good things. An author I love, a cover that takes your breath away and a story about a lifelong friendship, what’s not to like. I have added this one and hope to read it by the pool this summer.
