Welcome to today’s Happy Friday! My remedy against feeling down is to make a list of all the good things in my life. It can be anything. Really, anything. The smallest gesture from a stranger can change your day, if you open your eyes. Now, I am a pessimistic and I need daily reminders to look for the bright side. Maybe you are too, or maybe the state of our world is weighing on you. In any case, here’s your shot at some happy things!
- Went to my local library! I now have a lovely card, and a new space to go and work when I want to review outside of the house. I really like the place, it’s an old building where you can find the library and a sports center (with a swimming pool!)
- Following the previous point… I joined a sports center! I have been thinking about exercising and getting back in shape. I don’t know how I’ll feel about swimming, the classes, or the general atmosphere so for now it’s a pay-as-you-go membership, but I’m ready to give it a try! (There’s a Pilate class tonight but I have nothing to wear xD)
- I met the lovely Sabah Khan this week! If you don’t know who she is, she’s head of publicity at Avon. Super sweet, and she didn’t mind my staring in a ‘wait, that’s Sabah? No? Yes? Maybe?’ way haha. I did threaten to kidnap her and throw her in a basement, though…
- I met fellow bloggers to attend Libby Page’s event at Waterstones Piccadilly! We had a fun time and it was great to see familiar faces!
- One more review and I’ll have caught up with the backlog! I wrote three this morning, so the remaining one will wait tomorrow (when I will have another one to write too… It never stops!)
- I felt a little nostalgic when walking past Honest Burgers so… I went in and ate on my own. You know what? It’s nice. You don’t have to have company to spend a good time. I had my book, a nice team who joked a lot, and yummy food. Oh, and thoughts of my dear Inge with me ❤️
- BOOK SPOTTING! Gosh I love it as much as I love the face of regular readers staring at me while I take selfies with books…

I continue to be envious of your author/publisher events at Waterstone💜 Thanks for sharing your experiences as I’m living through them vicariously.
I LOVE eating alone!!! The first time I was a little uncomfortable and then I saw how wonderful it was to be able to read while out in a restaurant. Now I do it all the time.
Wonderful week, Meggy💜

I always wondered what it’s like to go out and eat solo. Sounds comforting somehow! Thanks for sharing, Meggy. 😀

I can confirm it’s really cool and more people should do it! You’re alone, but not lonely 🙂 I also like going to the movies on my own!

Thank you 🙂 Ups and downs but I really love the city. I guess I have to remember you can’t have it all (the dogs, and your life here)

Libraries in France have always frustrated me, as I couldn’t find many books in English, so to be able to walk in and see everything in my dear language is a fantastic feeling!!! I hope you have a great weekend xxxx

That’s great you joined a library. They are great for lots of reasons. I hope you will get to know the librarians and enjoy this wonderful place.
Pilates is fun and good for fitness. I hope you will enjoy it if you go.
Eating delicious food alone is a good thing. You can enjoy the food, people watch and enjoy your book. I like to do this every now and then.
My waves this week include:
A really good long lie in this morning. I think I needed that sleep.
Speaking to someone to decrease some of my anxiety about their situation. Not a happy wave but a positive wave.
Remembering I have good friends I can talk to if I want to.
Watching 2 saved up episodes of Love Island.
Lots of love Amanda xx

You have no idea how happy I was to joined this library. It was as if I was putting another root here in London, making things even more real 🙂
I have decided to work on my cardio at home in February before giving fitness and all a go, as anxiety has been visiting more and I want to be able to enjoy exercising instead of focusing on my heart going crazy. So yoga every day, and then, I’ll be ready for the sports center!
I miss good lie ins. I can’t stay in bed anymore. I am happy you took the step to talk to someone about how their situation affected you. It is a huge step. Definitely a positive one!
Sending you my best hugs xxx

Looks like a lovely week Meggy – I used to love going for lunch by myself with a good book but I rarely get the chance to anymore.
