Happy Friday! #ThePositivityWave

Last night, I was scrolling through Twitter and realised something. Brexit is everywhere, the weather is high on drugs so it’s impossible to dress, and we more often see or read negative things rather than positive and encouraging messages.

ENOUGH!

The Positivity wave

So today is Happy Friday on Chocolate’n’Waffles! My remedy against feeling down is to make a list of all the good things in my life. It can be anything. Really, anything. The smallest gesture from a stranger can change your day, if you open your eyes. Now, I am a pessimistic and I need daily reminders to look for the bright side. Maybe you are too, or maybe the state of our world is weighing on you. In any case, here’s your shot at some happy things!

What made me happy this week?

  • Turning on the car’s engine at the exact moment the radio launched my current favourite song (Car-aoke!)
  • Spending quality time with Yûki. Two hours, a car, freedom, and lots of love
  • Getting four hours of sleep straight!
  • Completing the first series in Ashtanga yoga during a Mysore-style class (Okay, I did skip a couple of poses but still pretty proud to get into a routine, to start meditating while practicing, and it’s really nice to discover new muscles, haha!)

That’s only part of the 1st series!
  • Finding the perfect shampoo.

G0Lo

  • Getting over my disappointment to miss LBF (thanks, Abbie) and taking one more step towards closing a painful chapter.
  • Finding my name in a book’s acknowledgements.

  • Getting dressed in my favourite clothes.
  • Eating two cannelés.
  • Watching Botched.

  • Winning at Super Mario 3.
  • Taking a bath.
  • Books. Obviously!

  • Looking at my map of the London tube.
  • Taking chances.
  • Eating duck!
  • Taking some time to just be. Nothing expected. Nothing pressuring me.
  • Waking up to see the sun.
  • My friends. I can’t add ‘online’ because I’ve met some of you in the flesh! And I don’t feel online friends are different than friends living across the street.
  • Cheeseburgers!!!!
  • Doing my nails bright red without looking as if I’ve just murdered someone and ripped their heart out.

See, I already feel better! Life’s too short to focus only on the bad stuff!

What made YOU happy this week?

  1. Aw what a lovely post! Thank you for cheering me up! I watched my daughter perform in a ballet show last night and she smashed it! And yesterday it was sunny enough to sit outside for lunch! Have a fab weekend 😎😍😘

  2. Thanks for making me focus on the positive stuff! I saw someone I hadn’t seen in over a year again (new job meant she didn’t take the train anymore) and it was like I only saw her yesterday. Finally finishing a review I struggled with. Hearing Bruno Mars on the radio :-). Love your list, everything on it would make me happy too, except maybe the bloodred nails.. my nails are too short to draw attention to them like that and it feels like red is like a flashlight to me ;-). Love seeing the colour on other people though!

    • It is SO hard to see the good stuff, but they’re so important to recharge our batteries that I force myself to look harder! 🙂 Brilliant! I miss my best friend, we live 800km away and I haven’t seen her in eight years, so I know how good it feels to see someone you haven’t in a while, it makes you feel all warm and happy! Few things beat reaching the end of a review that’s been difficult! Congrats! 😀 Bruno Mars always makes me sing way too loudly, haha!!
Haha, yeah, I have an Orenda read nailpolish that I love because I brought it back from London. With this kind of colour, you need short nails or it looks cheap! xD
Thank you for taking part, and I hope you can find little happiness moments this week 🙂 xxx

  3. Ah, this is such a lovely post, and so full of good vibes!! ❤

Mini road trip with doggie is adorable 😀 I wonder if my cat would be up for stuff like that. Guess not… but nice try.

Congrats on the yoga (just looking at those pictures tires me out, haha, so well done!) and being mentioned in the book! Woo-hoo! 🙂

Haha, maybe your cat would enjoy seeing the world and the birds!! My Yûki is so curious, despite not being very comfortable with cars, that she never says no to a trip!
Mouhahaha, the poses always look daunting when on paper… And they can be challenging! But it’s so rewarding to reconnect with one’s own body! I admit I’m very proud of myself! 😀 xx

  4. Always good to focus on the positive. I try every day and be thankful for the little things. And yes so tired of Brexit – but I would like to know what is going to happen.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend 😀

    • Seeing the good around me doesn’t come naturally so I have to remind myself to look harder 🙂 I am with you on Brexit… I am trying to move to the UK and it’s a pain because no one knows what’s gonna happen to new expats!
      I hope you had a great weekend 🙂 x

    • It took me years to put the nail polish on my nails rather than everywhere else xD I remember the day I put it all on the page of the book I was reading! A nightmare!!!
It’s a cute song about living in one of France’s most rural region, it’s cute and warm, I just love it!
Sunshine is good!!! We need lots of it! Thanks for reading 🙂 x

  8. What a great post. You’re right, the world is so filled with negativity and pain , we need to acknowledge and celebrate the little things. Things I’ve enjoyed this week include chocolate ( always) , Netflix, books, my cosy bed, a happy smile from my pupil and a lovely hug goodbye from the same pupil.
And this lovely post from you. 💛

    • I’ve noticed I have started to open my eyes to the positive stuff, and I thought I’d share in case someone needed some lightness 🙂
Chocolate!! I wish I had time for Netflix! I still haven’t caught up with Suits! Aw, pupils give you a lot, you spend so much time with them!
Thank you for being here and for sharing ❤ xxx

      • Ah you haven’t seen Suits yet. I watched the final episode about a week ago. I didn’t realise it was the final until the end. It is so good but I liked it better when Mike and Rachel were in it. Kind of want to go back to series 1 again! 😉

        • I’ve seen spoilers but I’m still waiting for free time to binge-watch! I think I might wait for the final season this summer and then eat all the episodes in one go!
I agree, the point of the show is gone, so it can’t be as good. I often re-watch seasons 1-3 for my shadowing accent exercises. I love those so much!! xx

  9. Positive vibes! I love this and you list made me smile.

I think my highlight last week was traveling upcountry with hubby to visit my folks, seeing the peak of the mountain because the skies were so clear and, sitting in the same car for 7 hours and not killing each other but actually enjoying the company and the music.

I hope this week brings you more wonderful moments ❤
