She ruined their lives. Now they’re going to destroy hers.

‘Someone is recreating every traumatic point in your life. They are doing this to make you suffer, to make you hurt and the only possible end game can be death. Your death.’

On the fourth floor of Chaucer House, two teenagers are found chained to a radiator. The boy is dead but the girl is alive. For Detective Kim Stone every detail of the scene mirrors her own terrifying experience with her brother Mikey, when they lived in the same tower block thirty years ago.

When the bodies of a middle-aged couple are discovered in a burnt-out car, Kim can’t ignore the chilling similarity to the death of Erica and Keith – the only loving parents Kim had ever known.

Faced with a killer who is recreating traumatic events from her past, Kim must face the brutal truth that someone wants to hurt her in the worst way possible. Desperate to stay on the case, she is forced to work with profiler Alison Lowe who has been called in to observe and monitor Kim’s behaviour.

Kim has spent years catching dangerous criminals and protecting the innocent. But with a killer firmly fixed on destroying Kim, can she solve this complex case and save her own life or will she become the final victim?

The heart-stopping and totally addictive new crime thriller from multi-million copy number one bestseller Angela Marsons will have you completely hooked.

Author: A.B. Whelan
Date of publication: 2019
Format: uncorrected ecopy

Olivia Campbell has the life most women want. A respected husband, beautiful
home, and the freedom that only financial security can provide.
But not all is as it appears…
Olivia has secrets, and after discovering a hidden journal in her husband’s study,
she realizes that she’s not the only one.
As her picture perfect world starts to fall apart around her, Olivia wonders just how
deep the secrets run as she finds herself immersed in the investigation of a young
missing girl.
Some coincidences are just too hard to ignore, but how far is she willing to go to
discover the truth?
Told from multiple perspectives, As Sick as Our Secrets is a dark, fast-paced
thriller that delves into dark subject matters like addiction, murder, sexual violence,
and danger. The story was inspired by an article about college girls soliciting their
bodies to earn money for school. This book is not for the faint-hearted.

Watch Your Back: Consent by Leo Benedictus @leobenedictus @portassoph ‏ @LouisaJoyner @FaberBooks #YouNeedToReadIt

A new week, new bookish adventures!

It took me time, but I can finally share my thoughts about what I believe to be one of the best books of the year. I’ve already read 23 novels so I know what I’m talking about! More seriously, I swear that I need to see Consent on all TBRs. Here’s why…

Many thanks to Sophie at Faber & Faber for offering me the chance to discover Leo Benedictus and Consent. This review is my unbiased opinion.

consentTitle: Consent
Author: Leo Benedictus
Publisher: Faber & Faber
Date of hardback publication: 7th February 2019
Format: paperback
Number of pages: 240

Frances is bright, young and single, enjoying life and her burgeoning career in the big city.
But after attracting the attention of a stranger, her life begins to unravel from the inside out.
A seductive novel of power and complicity. Consent shows us just how vulnerable we are to the will of others – people we may not even know…

An ingeniously nasty exercise reminiscent of Vladimir Nabokov and Patricia Highsmith – John Dugdale, Sunday Times
