I was lacking inspiration to bring my Suntags back to life so I decided to give my friend Inge’s Spooky tag a try!
Now, anyone who knows me is aware I don’t do scary. I’m a wuss. I steer clear of horror movies, I haven’t touched my Stephen King novels in forever, and I prefer to sing to the lyrics of Frozen than watch American Horror Story or whatever the name is. But hey, let’s have fun pretending I’m braver than I really am!
Thrillers or Supernatural(s)?
Thrillers all the way! I do wander into the supernatural side a couple of days a year with books, but I usually keep the genre for my TV shows. Is it less scary? Nope, but I’m a hardcore Buffy fan and a frightening Supernatural watcher… I find thrillers to be much more efficient to scare me with reality!
Ghosts or Zombies?
GHOSTS! What the hell is this craziness about zombies? I don’t like them, I don’t want them, I don’t care about them! At least, you can walk through a ghost, and they don’t always want to kill you. Some are nice! Have you met a zombie who was nice??? Plus, zombies can’t be so scary in books, while ghosts… Hm, ghosts stories!
Vampires or Werewolves?
Again, Buffy fan! And it counts as I have the entire book series. Give me Angel any day. Well, any night. No Twilight, please. I’m not being snob, I just belong to the old vampire tribe, before vampires got popular thanks to Bella…
Witches or Demons?
I’d get the witches on my side to kick some demons ass! Is that a good answer?
Would you rather read a book with 13 chapters or a book with a black cat on the cover?
Both! I am not superstitious! Also, black cats are cute.
Would you rather read a spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room?
By myself in a locked brightly lit room! I don’t care about being locked if there are books! Lock me away! Lose the key! But make sure I have tea and cake, of course.
Would you rather face your worst fears or be trapped in the mind of a killer?
As a very anxious and ‘end of the world is coming’ person, I kinda face my fears quite regularly, but it doesn’t mean I want the worst ones to find me so let’s share a mind with a serial killer and see what it’s made of!
Would you rather watch a scary movie or read a scary book?
The problem with books is that your imagination has no limits so when you read a scary thing, the images you create stay with you and you can’t curse or swear because you created them yourself! At least, with a movie, I can imagine chocking the director and close my eyes knowing it’ll soon be over. To finish a scary book, I have to read it, so torture myself. I’ll go with the movie!
Would you rather read spooky books during the fall time or all year?
All year? Are you insane??? Although my thrillers can be considered spooky by some… But that’s not the question. Fall only, if I can’t escape it.
Would you rather read 10 spooky books in October or 10 spooky books all year?
I would rather forget this question :p I’ll go for ten over 12 months, it means I can try and forget the awfulness and have breaks!!!
Now I’m supposed to give you recommendations for spooky books, but the only one I have in mind is Pet Sematary. Now you know why I can’t pick another King novel…
mmm…Angel…lol

Great answers! I don’t like horror films or books and only sometimes read thrillers these days. I don’t like zombies or vampires either so I’d be useless at this tag. 😂

Haha, I hesitated before jumping in but I thought this would be my late contribution to Halloween!

Loving the photo of you chilling with your book. Pet Semetry is one of the first spooky books I read too. I am with you on the thrillers over supernatural and spooky. Nice switch to your posts with a suntag.

Ooh this is a fun tag, and I loved reading your answers! That dog dressed up as a ghost is the best thing ever. I totally agree with you about zombies… I am so uninterested in anything to do with zombies. I really like your answer to the question about scary book or scary movie, although I am the opposite – I feel like I use my imagination to imagine things as less scary than the author intended when I’m reading a book, but when I watch a movie it’s right there in front of me and I can’t unsee it haha. I don’t think what I just said makes a lot of sense, but it does in my own weird logic!

Thank you for reading it! 😀 I just couldn’t resist the ghost dog! So cute. I need to dress my babies like this too, haha. Not sure they’d like it… Zombies are a no, just no! Oh, how interesting! Haha, I totally understand you! xx

I picked Yûki because it means courage in Japanese. Iris had her name when we adopted her ❤ xxx

Loved reading your answers! Of course I prefer thrillers as well… 😉 I don’t mind supernatural, but they tend to be hit or miss for me as well. If you are ever looking for a nice zombie, you can try Warm Bodies. One of the main character R is actually a zombie and doesn’t eat anyone. (I’m not saying the book or series is particularly good though xD). Also, I’m all for locking me inside a room as well as long as there is a pile of books and food and drinks involved. 😉

Why would I want a nice zombie??? xD But thanks for the rec! I might find the courage to check it out! Glad we agree, who needs the outside when books can make us travel? xx

I loved reading through this post – your answers are brilliant and I’m with you on just about all of them. Except I wouldn’t want to be locked in a room, I’d rather read a scary book by candle-light! I am a bit superstitious but I’d still choose the black cat because I believe they’re lucky – a good friend of my mum’s lent me her black cat charm which had been in her family for 150+ years when I was taking my driving test and I passed! 🙂

I am glad this post wasn’t too boring! 🙂 You are braver than me! I think I’d burn myself with the candle and go crazy with the scary book!! I love black cats and I’m sad when people shoo them away because of the color of their fur! Black Cat team! xx

It’s interesting to see you say you don’t like scary, when most of the books you read are thrillers, and that genre is the most scary to me, because it is realistic. I love horrors (movies) because I think there is not that big of a chance for me to get bitten by a vampire or something else paranormal.
It’s funny to see how different we are in that way.

Haha, I know!!! Lots of my friends say that what I read is much scarier than what is put under the label ‘horror’ because it could happen, but I guess that’s why I’m addicted. I love plausible and human monsters!
