Wednesday Light at the End of the Tunnel: Signs You Might Need a Break from Blogging for the Sake of your Sanity!

It’s been two years and eleven months since I launched Chocolate’n’Waffles (applause). During this period, I took two complete breaks; the first in July 2016 after having blogged intensively for six months, and the other earlier this year.

Did I feel guilty? Yes.

Did it do any good? Yes!

Is it okay to put your blog on the side for a while? Why the hell not?

Your blog, your rules! And sometimes, it might be the best decision you can take for you and your corner of the Internet…

is your blog eating you

Not having a child can change your life as much as having one.’

Grace has returned to London after twenty years abroad to manage her dying mother’s affairs. When she receives a blank Mother’s Day card in the post, she is confused and unsettled. Who could have sent it to her and why? She isn’t a mother.

Another Mother’s Day card arrives. Then come the silent phone calls. Haunted by disturbing flashbacks, Grace starts to unravel. Someone is out to get her. Someone who knows what she has done. Someone who will make her face the past she has run from for so long.

Lazy Saturday Review: And So It Begins by Rachel Abbott @RachelAbbott @Wildfirebks @ThePigeonholeHQ

From LipsyyI started doing ‘lazy Saturday reviews’ as a way of getting reviews done in just 30 mins, and they proved to be quite popular. They are quick and snappy, and concentrate less on the plot (or content) and writing and more on my overall feelings about said book. They generally end up being a bit of a rant. My fave!

Some author names never leave your timeline and keep you curious. I had been hearing about Rachel Abbott forever but had never taken the leap and check her novels. Silly me!

Then I got lucky because the wonderful team at The Pigeonhole gave me the opportunity to discover the author and her latest novel!

and so it beginsTitle: And So It Begins
Author: Rachel Abbott
Date of publication: 2018
Publisher: Wildfire
Format: e-copy via The Pigeonhole website

So this is how it ends. It is clear to me now: one of us has to die.

Mark and Evie had a whirlwind romance. Evie brought Mark back to life after the sudden death of his first wife. Cleo, Mark’s sister, knows she should be happy for him. But Cleo doesn’t trust Evie…

When Evie starts having accidents at home, her friends grow concerned. Could Mark be causing her injuries? Called out to their cliff-top house one night, Sergeant Stephanie King finds two bodies entangled on blood-drenched sheets.

Where does murder begin? When the knife is raised to strike, or before, at the first thought of violence? As Evie stands trial, the jury is forced to consider – is there ever a proper defence for murder?

And So It Begins is a darkly compulsive psychological thriller with all the hallmarks of a Rachel Abbott bestseller – a provocative dilemma, richly-layered mystery, knife-edge tension, and brilliant characterization.

Screen Shot 2018-10-24 at 19.21.13
