Another Wednesday, another TWIB!
This Week In Books is a weekly update on what you’ve been reading hosted by Lipsyy Lost & Found . A similar meme is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words
∧ Then ∧ The Lingering by S.J.I Holliday
Married couple Jack and Ali Gardiner move to a self-sufficient spiritual commune in the English Fens, desperate for fresh start. The local village is known for the witches who once resided there and Rosalind House, where the commune has been established, is a former psychiatric home, with a disturbing history.
When Jack and Ali arrive, a chain of unexpected and unexplained events is set off, and it becomes clear that they are not all that they seem. As the residents become twitchy, and the villagers suspicious, events from the past come back to haunt them, and someone is seeking retribution…
At once an unnerving mystery, a chilling thriller and a dark and superbly wrought ghost story, The Lingering is an exceptionally plotted, terrifying and tantalisingly twisted novel by one of the most exciting authors in the genre.
I just had to leave the cover in full size because it’s beautiful!
≈ Now ≈ The Wife Before Me by Laura Elliot
One evening as the sun is setting, Amelia Madison’s car slides into the sea off Mason’s Pier. Her body is never found. Two years later, Elena Langdon meets Nicholas Madison. She is grieving the loss of her mother, he is grieving for his wife. Together they can help each other.
Now Elena is living with Nicholas. But Elena doesn’t really know him. She doesn’t know what he is capable of.
And she doesn’t know what really happened to Amelia.
Until the day she discovers the torn page of a letter and the words she reads chill her to the bone.
Elena must find the person who wrote these letters if she is to save herself.
A totally breathtaking page-turner about the darker side of love and what really goes on behind closed doors. This book will have you gripped from the very first page until the dramatic final twist.
∨ Next ∨ Perfect Silence by Helen Fields
When silence falls, who will hear their screams?
The body of a young girl is found dumped on the roadside on the outskirts of Edinburgh. When pathologists examine the remains, they make a gruesome discovery: the silhouette of a doll carved in the victim’s skin. And when a macabre ragdoll is found nestled beside an abandoned baby, DI Luc Callanch learns the killer’s horrifying game plan – cutting out dolls from the flesh of his victims.
When a series of drug-users are brutally branded with the letter Z slashed into their foreheads, Luc and his partner Ava must risk both their jobs and their lives to unearth the truth. Is this the merciless work of the same assailant?
As the killer’s twisted games persist, Luc knows it’s only a matter of time before he strikes again. Can they stop another victim from being silenced forever – or is it already too late?
In love with this book without having started it yet!

I am loving that cover on the Lingering. I’d be tempted to pick it up purely for that but the blurb is intriguing me too. I like a good creepy story especially if there’s something a bit witchy

I need to finish up Dark in Death by J. D. Robb. I am leaving on vacation on Saturday and can’t wait to spend my time reading while traveling. I haven’t yet decided how to conquer some of my lists! Should I read the booms sitting on my Kindle? I have purchased several ebooks too. I have some more library books that will be expiring also. What I do know is that I will be reading for pleasure. No ARC’s! Lol.

I love the sound of the last two. Happy reading time. I’m reading a novella called ‘Forgotten Child’ by Rachel Abbott. So far it’s really good. It’s makes me want to read the full book that went before this one.
