Another month has come and gone. April brought me the best week of my life as well as some of the worst times ever. You can’t appreciate the amazing stuff without the endless painful days, I guess! But no matter what happened, nothing can take away what I have learned in April and will now cherish forever. (Yes, I am aware I sound very sappy, but I don’t care :p My blog, my sappiness!)
April or the last weeks of classes before the final period, the exams, the stress, and the overall “I’m never gonna make it” feeling. We were lucky to be granted two weeks off to revise and prepare our thesis and publishing project. Except I got the rebellion bug…
The bug led me to London! Best decision ever. I never am spontaneous. I don’t even know spontaneity, we are not friends. But when I received my blogger badge for the London book fair, I bought my tickets to paradise. Before realizing I had nowhere to go. See, I am not used to spontaneity!!! Therefore, I freaked out for an entire week, convinced I would never make it and I was forever stuck in France. But I have little godmothers everywhere and… I went! It happened. I lived. I loved it. I slapped anxiety in the face and had a life-changing experience. I mean it. If I lacked confidence about my ability to be of help and be able to make it somehow in publishing, I now hold on to the amazing things I’ve learned (more about it in my special London post!) and I won’t let anything, grades or comments, tell me I can’t make it if I really want it. Okay, I need to stop now or I’ll ramble for an hour and you are probably tired of me talking about it!
Car crashes! Two for one! Neither were my fault, but I was shaken and still don’t feel as comfortable as I used to when I am behind the wheel. I try not to let it become an anxiety trigger, but darn it, those things are difficult!!
One laptop down! My Macbook pro is slowly dying. I am typing this as fast as I can because it turns itself off without warning and it is tremendously annoying. Trying to buy a new one to be able to finish my thesis and project, and to be ready for my June internship, but of course, Apple doesn’t do cheap!
What else did happen? Some bad news, nice book mail, spring is mocking us. That’s about it!
Books I read this month
I am surprised I managed to read this much! I’m hoping May will be as nice, but I doubt it! Lots of those books haven’t been reviewed yet on the blog. My posts are ready, be prepared for some action soon!
Books I reviewed
Yep, only three reviews! Two are about the same book, but it’s not any book, it is the massive hit from Johana Gustawsson!
New Books (won, purchased, for review, whatever)
Okay, here I’m a bit ashamed. I’ve lost track of what I’ve gotten! I’ll post the Instagram pics I took recently but many books are missing. Hopefully they will be reviewed soon!
And yes, I have received my first ever book mail from a French publisher! Merci JC Lattès!
