I cannot believe I still have Shalini Boland’s other books waiting to be read on my Kindle!!! Where does time fly and how the hell do I keep fab books hidden in this electronic device??
But today not about this… Today is Cover Reveal day!
I’m really excited to share the cover of The Secret Mother, the first book by Shalini that is being published by Bookouture!
I feel like this cover nails it. A staircase, like in homey houses where nothing bad happens, an innocent kid, a mother… NO FACE! I’m not a fan of faces on covers, haha! I love the contrast of the dark staircase with the white landing… So promising!!!
Now here’s a little more about the book, because you know you want to know!
‘Are you my mummy?’ the little boy asks.
Tessa Markham comes home to find a child in her kitchen. He thinks she’s his mother. But Tessa doesn’t have any children.
She doesn’t know who the little boy is or how he got there.
After contacting the police, Tessa comes under suspicion for snatching the child. She must fight to prove her innocence. But how can she convince everyone she’s not guilty when even those closest to her are questioning the truth? And when Tessa doesn’t even trust herself…
A chilling, unputdownable thriller with a dark twist that will take your breath away and make you wonder if you can ever trust anyone again. Perfect for fans of Gone Girl, Girl on the Train and The Sister.
I don’t like books being compared to others, but when I noticed The Sister… Hm, that really sets my expectations so high!!! I love the “proving you’re innocent” trope, it’s frustrating, it usually makes me angry, it makes me nervous, it’s perfect (I’m a masochist…) I cannot wait for this book!
Are you as excited as I am about it??
Shalini lives in Dorset, England with her husband, two sons and Jess their cheeky terrier cross. Before kids, she was signed to Universal Music Publishing as a singer songwriter, but now she spends her days writing suspense thrillers (in between school runs and hanging out endless baskets of laundry).
