May 6th: Best or Worst Lines of Dialogue From a Hyped-Up Book

This week’s topic had me in a frenzy. There are so many hyped books I haven’t opened yet that I was not sure I would find any lines at all. I recall reading a few things and thinking “Oh my God, what the hell is that? No one says this kind of things!” but I could not pin down an example. I forced my brain to go into a full workout session, diving deep into my memory to remember anything good, or extremely bad, that I could use. The result was a headache and empty hands! My notebook was not very helpful, which made me think I should be more thorough with my notes when I read.

Extreme situations call for extreme solutions. I sat in front of my books, thinking a quote would come and jump on me on its own. I could have stayed there a long time, but guess what! It worked!

You can always rely on Harry Potter to save you from failure. In this case, I must thank Molly Weasley for that badass line directed at our charming Bellatrix.

‘Not my daughter, you bitch!’ is one of the most powerful sentences of the series. This is a mother love slap in the face. My heart filled up with love, anger and pride when I imagined Molly stand up in front of the devil. To see such a warm and lovely character use the word “bitch” was quite something, and I could hear her voice clearly in my head, strong and fierce.  I found the movie equivalent almost as good, although the duel was not all that impressive.

Look at this and tell me you did not feel a thing.

Unfortunately, I could not come up with a terribly bad line that should never have been written.

It’s a shame when you think of the hundreds of lines unworthy of the paper they are printed on. I suspect my brain to declutter my memory too often and empty the trash can full of things I better not remember. I guess it is a nice thing, but it doesn’t help in this case. I am pretty sure a couple of lines from Throne of Glass would have their place in this post.

Please, help me out and share your favorite best or worst lines in hyped-up books!

  1. “Not my daughter, you bitch!” Absolutely legendary! 🙂
Like you, I don’t remember my quotes unless I write them down. I cannot even think of one. *sobs*

    1. One of the best ❤
*hugs* There is hope, let's start writing down at least two quotes from every book we read! (says the girl who forgets to take notes when she's too engrossed in a story)

      1. This is legit me! I forget all the time. Half way through I’m like “Oh, I was supposed to highlight these quotes! Darn, maybe next time!”

We must persevere through these adverse times! 🙂

      1. One line is enough. 😊 I’m just happy to see that someone else did it. I wasn’t sure if people would find this topic easy or hard. I had a ton of lines for each, but I felt like ranting, so I chose bad lines of dialogue.
