This Week In Books is a great meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost & Found where you sum-up what you’ve been reading during the week.
(Clicking on one of the titles will take you to the Goodreads page)
Last week was busy again so reading time was reduced. On the good side, I am almost up to date with the reviews and my new learning planning seems to fit perfectly in my schedule, which means more time for books in the weeks to come.
∧ Then ∧ Passenger, Alexandra Bracken
Blurb:
In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles but years from home. And she’s inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she’s never heard of. Until now.
Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods—a powerful family in the colonies—and the servitude he’s known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can’t escape and the family that won’t let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, Nicholas’ passenger, can find. In order to protect her, he must ensure she brings it back to them— whether she wants to or not.
Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods’ grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home . . . forever.
My first read of the Hype or Like Friday meme is done. I am all for suspense so you’ll have to wait for the review to know how the story and myself got along. The review will be published on April 29th.
≈ Now ≈ The Death of Lila Jane, Teresa Mummert
Blurb:
Lila Jane is spending her summer vacation preparing for high school. She does everything asked of her, but her parents rarely give her credit for her efforts. She decides to sneak out with a friend to attend a local party and shed her little girl image, to become a woman once and for all. What starts out as a fun escape soon escalates into a life on the run with a boy she barely knows.
I’m really excited to tread back to contemporary for a while. I am starting this as soon as this post is published.
∨ Next ∨ The Maze Runner, James Dashner
Blurb:
If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone.
Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.
Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive.
Everything is going to change.
Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.
Remember. Survive. Run.
Another book everyone seems to have read except me! I will do my best to watch the movie too before reviewing to bash compare with the book.
Have you read any of those books? What’s next on your list?
Happy reading!
I hope you liked Passenger, I’m on a waiting list for it at my library 🙂

I’ll look out for your review of Passenger as I’m still on the fence about whether to read it or not.
I quite enjoyed The Maze Runner. It wasn’t as remarkable as I’d hoped, but it was ok. I hope you enjoy it!

I understand the mixed reviews about Passenger now. I’ll do my best with the review 🙂 I do my best to keep my expectations about books low now, to enjoy them without pressure, but it’s hard for some of them! I admit I know nothing about the Maze Runner, I copy and paste the goodreads blurb without reading to dive into it without any information. I’ll check your post now!

I look forward to reading your review on Passenger. The blurb seems interesting. I have watched the movie adaptation of Maze Runner though I have not yet read the book so you are not the only one 🙂 I will wait to read your thoughts about the book before I pick it. Waiting to hear about Lila Jane too. The blurb seems promising, sounds like a good thriller.
Enjoy your books. Happy Wednesday.

I hope you enjoy ‘The Maze Runner’! I did! My favorite was the second book, ‘The Scorch Trials’. The movies so far have been fantastic but are different than the books.

I read more stand alones than series so I’m always a bit wary when I start one, but I’m giving this one its chance! I’m always surprised about the major differences between books and movies, I think I will never understand.

I hope you enjoyed the Passenger! I have been meaning to get a copy and read it for a while now. I’m personally not a fan of The Maze Runner series and the slang used was really annoying, but I hope you will enjoy it better than I did. 🙂

I was on the fence for Passenger so I’m glad it was a group book, I don’t think I would have bought it otherwise.
Thank you, I am not familiar with series so I’m always a bit wary 🙂
