Today is the day! Today, we kick off the brand new meme hosted by Britt @ Geronimo Reads, Larkin @ wonderfilledreads.com and Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books about overly hyped books! I am really excited because it is the first time I take part in a group. If you want to join us, all you have to do is click here !
This week’s discussion post: Top 10 Hyped-Up Books
It turns out some hyped books did sneak into my TBR list!
1 The 5th Wave
Between the book and the movie, you can’t escape The 5th Wave. The only reason this book is on my TBR is because Liev Schreiber plays the Colonel Vosch in the movie adaptation and I have this rule about always reading the book first. Nope, not ashamed :p Don’t ask me about the story, I have no idea!
2 Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe
Β Everyone seems to have read it and I feel excluded!
I keep hearing this one is worth the ride, so I have decided to embark for Mars.
Hubby bought this one and started it … weeks ago. It keeps being mentioned as a reference, especially on Instagram, so I want to know what the fuss is about.
I love the cover. Like, really like it. I know we don’t judge a book by its cover but it’s too late, it’s on the wishlist. And we all do that anyway.
Another cover love. I am excited Passenger is this month’s group read. I got worried at some point because the small paperback version was released yesterday and Amazon was telling me there would not be a copy available before the end of the month, but then hubby bought the ebook version. I won’t get the beautiful cover on my bookshelf but I can at least read the story.
If you’ve been blogging for more than a day, you can’t have missed this one being reviewed and discussed all around the community. I barely know what the book is about, I only added it because it irked me not to understand what people were talking about!
This time, the title inspired me, not the cover. I fell this is a good candidate for my “out of comfort zone” reading experience.
Another Instagram reference, I have no idea what the story is about. It’s kind of exciting!
Are those books on your TBR? Have you read them? Did they live up to your expectations?
Nice post! You have all the ones I missed on mine. In case you’re wondering, The Book Thief and When We Collided are both available to share on Amazon. I just need to find someone who has them.

Haven’t read any of them but two are on my reading list (The Martian and All the bright places). Hope they are worth the hype.

I hope so too, soon it will be time to find out! π

Definite yes to The Martian; I loved that book. The 5th Wave was mostly overhyped for me… But All The Bright Places and Illuminae are good enough. I still have to read The Young Elites as well… I have been saying that I’ll read it soon for months though haha.

Haha, I have the same problem with some books, like The Rosie Project has been on my TBR since January and I still haven’t read it!

Great choices! I finished Aristotle and Dante today and found it to be quietly beautiful and just a really peaceful book. I hope you enjoy it! Oh, and Illuminae is AMAZING. Seriously, one of my top 3 favorite reads of this year. Can’t wait to read all of your reviews as your read these! Thanks for joining Hype of Like Friday! π

I am so looking forward to reading all of this. I love having such an interesting TBR but it’s frustrating not to be able to read them all already, haha! Thank you for hosting this awesome meme π

Somehow The 5th Wave has avoided my tbr list! I haven’t seen the movie either, would you believe it?
Most of these aren’t on my tbr list right now, but Illuminae has been for a while and so is The Martian. I’ll look up all the others, too π
And I’ll definitely pop into the group because somehow I’m already behind.

Congrats for steering completely clear of The 5th wave! π No pressure, do the group activities when you have time π This week is gonna be hectic so I’m not sure I’ll have time to participate on Friday.

I did see it around everywhere, and it’s on my tbr list now π
It’s a hectic one for me as well, so thank you for understanding. It’s good to know that the group won’t mind if I just sign up and then not say a word for a few weeks :p

My friends loved Aristotle and Dante, but I really don’t see it as something that was special. It was good, just not as good as everyone said it was. It was okay. The relationship between dante and ari were good, however, that’s where it ends.
Great list by the way! π

Thank you! π I heard it was a quiet book that stays with you after you put it down. I can’t wait to see for myself!
